Anaheim Ducks D Luca Sbisa out 6-8 weeks, G Viktor Fasth out 3-4 weeks with injuries

ANAHEIM, Calif. - Anaheim Ducks defenceman Luca Sbisa will be out at least six weeks with a torn tendon in his right hand.

The NHL-leading Ducks also announced Saturday that goalie Viktor Fasth will miss another 3-4 weeks with muscle inflammation in his lower body.

Anaheim recalled goalie Frederik Andersen and defenceman Nolan Yonkman from Norfolk of the AHL.

Sbisa was hurt during the Ducks' 1-0 overtime victory over Tampa Bay on Friday. The Swiss defenceman will have surgery on Monday.

Fasth was expected to start Friday, but the Ducks said he was hurt in warmups. The Swedish goalie already missed a month earlier this season with a lower-body injury.

Andersen went 6-1 with a 1.66 goals-against average and .943 save percentage while filling in for Fasth as Jonas Hiller's backup.

Quote of the Day

This is a great day for me. This is something I've been thinking about for a long time. This is a great opportunity that the St. Louis Blues organization, (owner) Tom Stillman and Doug Armstrong are giving me and trusting me in doing...This is going to be a great challenge for me.

— Martin Brodeur, after announcing his retirement as an NHL player and becoming a senior adviser with the Blues on Thursday
