ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - Harri Sateri made 27 saves in regulation time and seven more in a shootout to lead the Worcester Sharks to a 3-2 win over the St. John's IceCaps on Friday in American Hockey League action.
It took 18 shooters to finish the game, with Sena Acolatse beating IceCaps goalie Eddie Pasquale fivehole for the winner.
Jason Jaffray and Jerome Samson scored for the IceCaps (7-7-1) in regulation.
Matt Tennyson and Freddie Hamilton replied for the Sharks (3-7-1).
The Sharks opened the scoring 10:55 into the second period, as Tennyson found the net on the power play with a high wrist shot from the point.
With 7:44 left in the second, IceCaps captain Jaffray broke loose on a power-play breakaway, tying the game, off a pass up the middle from defenceman Brenden Kichton.
Sharks forward Hamilton carried the puck to the net and scored through traffic with a quick release at the 7:16 mark of the third period.
Samson tied the game at two with 9:50 left in the third, beating Sateri high with a one-time wrist shot in the slot, off a pass from Andrew Gordon.
Pasquale made 20 saves in defeat.
