Roland McKeown scored the winner in the eighth round of the shootout as the Kingston Frontenacs edged the Kitchener Rangers 6-5 on Friday in Ontario Hockey League action.
Sam Povorozniouk scored twice for the Frontenacs (9-5-3) while Darcy Greenaway, Matthew Watson and Sam Bennett added single goals. McKeown had two assists to go along with his winning goal.
Kingston's Matt Mahalak made 24 saves for the win. Jordan DeKort started in net for Kitchener but was pulled after giving up four goals on 10 shots. Matthew Greenfield stopped 21-of-22 shots in 46 minutes of relief, but took the shootout loss.
The Frontenacs went 1 for 6 on the power play while the Rangers were 1 for 9.
OTTERS 3 GENERALS 2
ERIE, Pa. — Andre Burakovsky scored the eventual winner as the Otters halted Oshawa's five-game win streak.
Josh Brown and Chris Carlisle supplied the offence for the Generals (14-4-1).
Devin Williams made 19 saves for the Otters, and Danial Altshuler turned away 25 shots for Oshawa.
WHALERS 3 STORM 2 (SO)
GUELPH, Ont. — Zack Bowman stopped 41 shots as Plymouth edged the Storm to halt a three-game slide.
Connor Chatham and Carter Sandlak scored in regulation for the Whalers (8-12-0) while Chatham tacked on the shootout winner.
Matthew Mancina made 23 saves for the Storm.
COLTS 5 KNIGHTS 4 (SO)
LONDON, Ont. — Zach Hall scored the lone shootout goal as Barrie came from behind to defeat the Knights.
Jake Dotchin, Aaron Ekblad, Kevin Laband and Tyson Fawcett scored in regulation for the Colts (9-8-1), who trailed 3-1 after the first period and 4-2 heading into the final 20 minutes.
Barrie's Mackenzie Blackwood made 33 saves for the win as Knights' netminder Jake Patterson turned aside 43 shots in defeat.
STEELHEADS 6 BULLS 4
MISSISSAUGA, Ont. — Andrew Goldberg scored a goal and added two assists and Sam Babinstev had three assists as the Steelheads downed Belleville.
Jared Walsh, Bobby MacIntyre and Everett Clark gave the Bulls (4-11-3) a 3-0 lead and Artem Rasulov and Nick Zottl had the other Belleville goals.
Spencer Martin made 38 saves for the Steelheads. Charlie Graham started in goal for Belleville but was pulled after allowing two goals on 10 shots. Jason Da Silva stopped 22 shots in 46 minutes of relief.
SPIRIT 7 67'S 3
OTTAWA — Saginaw nearly gave up a four-goal lead before pulling away against the 67's.
Dylan Sadowy, Cody Payne, Eric Locke and Jacob Ringuette put the Spirit (9-7-2) up 4-0 before Ottawa scored three straight goals to make the game close. Andrey Alexeev, Sean Callaghan and Nick Moutrey scored in the third period to secure Saginaw a victory.
Brendan Bell scored twice for Ottawa (7-11-0) and Andrew Abou-Assaly had the other goal for the 67's.
WOLVES 4 PETES 3 (SO)
SUDBURY, Ont. —Dominik Kahun completed the come back for the Wolves by scoring the shootout winner.
Nicholas Baptiste and Nathan Pancel each had a goal and an assist for Sudbury (8-5-6), which trailed 3-1 heading into the third period, while Kahun also scored in regulation time.
Peterborough (8-9-2) got goals from Nick Ritchie, Nelson Armstrong and Stephen Pierog.
