UTICA, N.Y. - T.J. Brennan had two goals and an assist to help the Toronto Marlies to a 5-2 victory over the winless Utica Comets on Tuesday in American Hockey league action.
Alexander Grenier opened the scoring for the Comets (0-7-2) in the first period, before Sam Carrick tied it for the Marlies (6-3-1).
Brennan scored his first goal in the second period, just 1:36 after Jesse Blacker snapped a 1-1 tie for Toronto.
Stefan Legein, on the power play, made it 4-1 for Toronto, before Benn Ferriero cut the margin with Utica skating with the man advantage at 18:54 of the second period.
Brennan added an insurance goal on the power play with his 10th goal of the season early in the third period.
Drew MacIntyre made 19 saves for Toronto. Joacim Eriksson turned aside 25 shots for Utica, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks.
The Marlies were 2 for 4 on the power play, while the Comets were 1 for 5.
