Avalanche's Tanguay out minimum two weeks
Colorado Avalanche forward Alex Tanguay will miss at least two weeks with a knee injury

CENTENNIAL, Colo. -- Colorado Avalanche right wing Alex Tanguay will be sidelined for "a minimum of two weeks" because of the knee injury he sustained Saturday against the Montreal Canadiens, Avs coach Patrick Roy said Monday.

Tanguay was hurt in the second period of the Avalanche's 4-1 win. Roy said Tanguay would be re-evaluated by team physician Dr. Andrew Parker after the two-week period.

Rookie center Nathan MacKinnon will replace Tanguay on the line with left wing Gabriel Landeskog and center Paul Stastny when the Avalanche play the Nashville Predators on Wednesday at Pepsi Center. MacKinnon moved to that line Saturday after Tanguay was injured and scored a third-period goal to break a 1-1 tie.

Tanguay has three goals and six assists in 13 games.

Quote of the Day

I have been blessed to play for 16 years in the NHL; it has been an amazing ride. I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers organizations and owners for providing me the opportunity to play the sport I love for so many years. I could have never played for so long or accomplished all that I have without the unwavering love and support from my wife, Heather, our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason, and my parents.
