Flyers' Downie out of the hospital
Philadelphia Flyers right wing Steve Downie was released from a Philadelphia hospital Sunday, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

Philadelphia Flyers right wing Steve Downie was released from a Philadelphia hospital Sunday, according to general manager Paul Holmgren.

Downie was injured during a fight with Washington Capitals forward Aaron Volpatti in the second period of the Flyers' 7-0 loss Friday. He is out indefinitely with a concussion.

"Steve is out of the hospital and doing well. Vinny [Vincent Lecavalier] is day to day."

Holmgren said Saturday he expects Lecavalier (facial contusion) to play Tuesday against the Carolina Hurricanes. Lecavalier was injured during a fight with Steve Oleksy on Friday.

Lecavalier currently leads the Flyers in goals (five) and points (seven) in nine games. He missed three games (Oct. 12-17) with a lower-body injury.

The Flyers acquired Downie in a trade with the Colorado Avalanche on Oct. 31 that sent Maxime Talbot to Denver. Friday marked Downie's return to Philadelphia -- he made his NHL debut with the Flyers in 2007-08 -- after he scored a goal in 11 games with the Avalanche this season.

Right wing Tye McGinn was recalled Saturday from the Adirondack Phantoms of the American Hockey League.
