The Winnipeg Jets recalled defenseman Zach Redmond from the St. John’s IceCaps of the American Hockey League on Sunday. Defensemen Ben Chiarot and Julian Melchiori were reassigned to St. John's.

Redmond, 25, has two points and two penalty minutes in two games with the IceCaps. He made his NHL debut in 2012-13 and appeared in eight games with the Jets (one goal, three assists, 12 PIM) before having surgery to repair the right femoral artery and vein in his leg following a skate cut in practice on Feb. 21.

Redmond has 52 points (17 G, 35 A) and 73 penalty minutes in 115 AHL games between the Chicago Wolves and St. John's. He was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the seventh round (No. 184) of the 2008 NHL Draft.

Quote of the Day

I was going nuts and I saw [Subban], he was going crazy, and the ref had no idea where to go. [Subban] was skating to me, and I was skating to him and the ref was right in between us and I don't know, I kind of hit him pretty hard, I thought, but those were some emotions and I'm pretty sure he understands that.
