Oilers' Bachman leaves with groin injury
Edmonton Oilers goaltender Richard Bachman had to be helped off the ice Saturday in the first period of a 5-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings after injuring his groin.

EDMONTON - Edmonton Oilers goaltender Richard Bachman had to be helped off the ice Saturday in the first period of a 5-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Bachman injured his groin extending his left pad, reaching for the puck.

Bachman was making his third consecutive start since being called up Sunday on from the Oklahoma City Barons.

A free agent signing from the Dallas Stars this summer, Bachman replaced Devan Dubnyk on the Oilers roster. Dubnyk injured his ankle in practice last week.

Bachman was replaced by Jason LaBarbera, who allowed the final three goals.
