WORCESTER, Mass. - Winger Daniil Tarasov scored the only goal that Worcester would need, cashing in on a power-play at 19:54 of the opening period, as the Sharks went on to beat the St. John's IceCaps 3-0 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Tarasov scored for Worcester (3-4-0) while Patrice Cormier was off for tripping

Sena Acolatse and Curt Gogal scored their first goals of the season in the third period, with Gogol's coming shorthanded into an empty net.

Worcester's Troy Grosenick stopped 27 shots for the shutout.

Eddie Pasquale turned back 29 shots for the IceCaps (5-6-1)

St. John's was 0 for 5 with the man advantage, and Worcester 1 for 3.

Once again, it shows character in this dressing room. Once again, there's no quitting in here. We all wanted this so bad and we worked so hard to get home-ice advantage and we weren't going to let this one slide.
