Abbotsford keeps Utica winless, Knight scores in OT as Heat beat Comets 5-4

UTICA, N.Y. - Centre Corban Knight scored 3:30 into overtime, and the Abbotsford Heat rallied to edge the Utica Comets 5-4 on Wednesday in American Hockey League play.

Roman Horak opened the scoring for Abbotsford (5-4-1), and Utica (0-5-2) then took charge in the opening period with goals from Frank Corrado, Benn Ferriero, and Brandon DeFazio.

The Heat took the lead with the next three goals, from Mark Cundari in the second period, and from Chad Billins and Markys Granlund in the third.

Patrick Mullen tied it for Utica at 17:48 of the third period with his first goal of the season.

Abbotsford's Reto Berra stopped six of nine shots in the opening period, and was replaced by Joni Ortio, who handled 17 of the 18 shots the rest of the way.

Joacim Eriksson made 35 saves for the Comets.
