Phoenix Coyotes center Martin Hanzal will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety Monday for a hit on Edmonton Oilers defenseman Jeff Petry on Saturday night at Jobing.com Arena.

At 13:42 of the first period, Hanzal checked Petry against the boards in the Edmonton end after Petry had moved the puck. Hanzal received a two-minute minor for charging on the play.

Petry was shaken up on the play but remained in the game.

The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: charging. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

Phoenix won the game, 5-4.

Quote of the Day

I loved being in the jerseys again and they worked some magic for us. It was weird in warm-ups, seeing No. 22 in that jersey and thinking he’s [Mike Gartner], and No. 8 reminds you of Danny Briere … every number had me thinking back to the guys who wore them and smiling.
