The San Jose Sharks added depth to their roster Monday night, acquiring forward Mike Brown from the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for a fourth-round pick at the 2014 NHL Draft.
Brown, 28, was held without a point in eight games this season for the Oilers. He has 19 penalty minutes.
The 5-foot-11, 202-pound right wing was selected by the Vancouver Canucks in the fifth round (No. 159) of the 2004 NHL Draft. He has 15 goals, 11 assists and 591 penalty minutes in 289 games with Vancouver, Anaheim, Toronto and Edmonton.
"Mike plays a speed game and fits the fast, hard and supportive mantra that our team wants to play with," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said. "He is a player with tremendous character, knows the Western Conference well and brings a tough, physical ingredient to our lineup."
San Jose improved to 8-0-1 Monday with a 1-0 shootout victory against the Detroit Red Wings.
