Avalanche's McLeod suspended five games
Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod has been suspended for five games, without pay, for boarding Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall.

NEW YORK -- Colorado Avalanche forward Cody McLeod has been suspended for five games, without pay, for boarding Detroit Red Wings defenseman Niklas Kronwall during NHL Game No. 107 in Denver on Thursday, Oct. 17, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 2:13 of the first period. McLeod was assessed a five-minute major penalty and a game misconduct for boarding.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, McLeod will forfeit $29,487.20. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
