Islanders' Grabner suspended two games
New York Islanders forward Michael Grabner has been suspended for two games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Carolina Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe.

NEW YORK -- New York Islanders forward Michael Grabner has been suspended for two games, without pay, for an illegal check to the head of Carolina Hurricanes forward Nathan Gerbe during NHL Game No. 117 on Long Island on Saturday, Oct. 19, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:42 of the first period. No penalty was called on the play.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Grabner will forfeit $30,769.24. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
