Elias not traveling with Devils to Columbus
New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias will reportedly miss his second straight game on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets due to an illness.

New Jersey Devils forward Patrik Elias will reportedly miss his second straight game on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets due to an illness.

Elias was also sidelined on Saturday with a case of the flu in New Jersey's victory against the New York Rangers.

Devils coach Peter DeBoer told Tom Gulitti of The (Bergen) Record on Monday that Elias wouldn't be traveling with the team to Columbus.

"I'm not sure what it is, but obviously it's more significant than just a flu," DeBoer said.

Elias has two goals and four points in seven games this season.

Quote of the Day

Philadelphia is where I started my NHL career and this is where I want to be so I am really happy. This definitely gives me a lot of confidence by the Flyers showing that they have confidence in me. I know they want to see me get better as a player and this is the place to do it.

— Zac Rinaldo to the Flyers website on signing a two-year contract extension with Philadelphia
