NEW YORK – A limited number of tickets to the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® will go on sale via Ticketmaster.com and Ticketmaster.ca, the official ticket marketplace of the NHL, at 10 a.m. ET on Tuesday, Oct. 22. The 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® is scheduled for Wednesday, Jan. 1, when the Detroit Red Wings® will host the Toronto Maple Leafs® at Michigan Stadium on the University of Michigan campus.

Fans attending at the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® could be part of a world record-setting crowd. The record for attendance at an ice hockey game is 104,173 people, set at the game between the University of Michigan and Michigan State University at Michigan Stadium in 2010.

The 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® at Michigan Stadium will feature Spectator Plaza, a free outdoor hockey and entertainment festival for fans of all ages with live musical performances, interactive hockey-themed attractions, prizes and giveaways, food and beverages and merchandise tents with officially licensed 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic gear. The Plaza will be located in the parking lot near Gate 1 and the Crisler Center.

Two members of the NHL's Original Six™, Detroit and Toronto are longtime rivals. The organizations first played each other on Jan. 4, 1927, and the teams have met seven times in the Stanley Cup® Final. As part of this year's realignment, the Red Wings and Maple Leafs are competing in the same division for the first time since the 1997-98 season.

During the 2014 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic®, the Red Wings and Maple Leafs will wear specially-designed uniforms inspired by the early years of each franchise. The game will be broadcast live on NBC in the U.S. and on CBC and RDS in Canada. SiriusXM Radio will provide live radio coverage.

NHL Network™ will provide hours of live coverage in the days leading up to and after the game. NHL.com will provide extensive digital video coverage and NHL Social will have exclusive coverage on all social platforms, including the use of the hashtag #WinterClassic. The Washington Capitals will host the 2015 Bridgestone NHL Winter Classic® on Jan. 1, 2015. The Capitals' opponent and the location of the game will be announced at a later date.
