Flyers could have Lecavalier back Thursday
Vincent Lecavalier might return from a lower-body injury that has sidelined him since Oct. 11 as early as Thursday at Well Fargo Center against the New York Rangers.

In need of some good news as well as some offense, the Philadelphia Flyers could have center Vincent Lecavalier back this week.

Lecavalier might return from a lower-body injury that has sidelined him since Oct. 11 as early as Thursday at Wells Fargo Center against the New York Rangers.

"Hopefully, I'll play on Thursday, but we'll see how things go," he said after skating Sunday for the first time since he was injured.

An offseason signing after his contract was bought out by the Tampa Bay Lightning, the 33-year-old has one goal and two assists in five games.

The Flyers are an NHL-worst 1-7-0 to start the season and are 29th in the League, averaging 1.38 goals per game.

Forward Scott Hartnell, who sustained an upper-body injury in the same game Lecavalier was hurt, is reportedly not close to returning. He also skated Sunday for the first time since the Oct. 11 game against the Phoenix Coyotes.

Lecavalier told reporters he's not going to rush back from his inury.

"It's a really long season. There's like a fine line," he said. "You want to come back as quickly as possible, but if you come back too soon and it gets worse, you're not really helping the team that way."
