Islanders' Visnovsky leaves with concussion
New York Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky suffered a concussion during the first period of his team's game Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes.

New York Islanders defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky suffered a concussion during the first period of his team's game Saturday night against the Carolina Hurricanes at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Visnovsky collected a puck behind the Islanders' net during the first period and took a hit from Hurricanes forward Radek Dvorak. Visnovsky was favoring his left shoulder after the hit; he headed to the dressing room and did not join the Islanders on the ice for the start of the second period. The team announced via its Twitter account that Visnovsky had suffered a concussion and would not return

Visnovsky, 37, has a goal and two assists in eight games.

Quote of the Day

After being through it and seeing the other [outdoor] games on TV, just the atmosphere is spectacular. To stand here -- and we are essentially almost on the blue line -- and look up [into the stands] and knowing it is going to be packed and playing our biggest rival in this setting is going to be pretty special.
