Berra makes 29 saves, Granlund scores SO winner as Heat edge Barons

OKLAHOMA CITY - Reto Berra stopped 29 shots through regulation and four more in the shootout as the Abbotsford Heat edged the host Oklahoma City Barons 2-1 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.

Markus Granlund scored the shootout winner for the Heat (3-2-1) while Paul Byron scored in regulation.

Joel Broda supplied the offence for the Barons (3-3-1) as Richard Bachman made 28 saves in a losing cause.

The two clubs nearly went two full periods without a goal before Broda put Oklahoma City on the board at 19:59 of the second.

Abbotsford was near defeat however, with the goalie pulled for a sixth attacker, Byron scored at 19:21 of the third period to force extra time.

Neither team had any success with the power play as both went 0 for 6 with the man advantage.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
