OKLAHOMA CITY - Reto Berra stopped 29 shots through regulation and four more in the shootout as the Abbotsford Heat edged the host Oklahoma City Barons 2-1 on Saturday in American Hockey League action.
Markus Granlund scored the shootout winner for the Heat (3-2-1) while Paul Byron scored in regulation.
Joel Broda supplied the offence for the Barons (3-3-1) as Richard Bachman made 28 saves in a losing cause.
The two clubs nearly went two full periods without a goal before Broda put Oklahoma City on the board at 19:59 of the second.
Abbotsford was near defeat however, with the goalie pulled for a sixth attacker, Byron scored at 19:21 of the third period to force extra time.
Neither team had any success with the power play as both went 0 for 6 with the man advantage.
