Devils to start Schneider vs. Rangers on Saturday
Cory Schneider will start in goal Saturday for the New Jersey Devils against the New York Rangers

The New Jersey Devils will turn back to Cory Schneider on Saturday as they once again seek their first win of the season, this time against the New York Rangers at Prudential Center.

It will be Schneider's fourth start this season, matching the total Martin Brodeur has received. Brodeur allowed four goals on 22 shots in a 5-2 loss Thursday to the Ottawa Senators, dropping the Devils to 0-4-3 and leaving them as the only team in the NHL without a win.

Schneider last played Sunday in a 3-0 loss to the Winnipeg Jets, stopping 32 of 34 shots.

Forward Ryane Clowe, who was placed on injured reserve after sustaining a head injury against the Jets, still isn't feeling 100 percent. According to reporter Tom Gulitti of The (Bergen) Record, general manager Lou Lamoriello said he's confident Clowe will "be fine," but he isn't skating yet. Clowe is eligible to come off IR in time for the Devils' game Oct. 22 against the Columbus Blue Jackets, but Lamoriello said Clowe might not be ready by then.

Coach Peter DeBoer told reporters his focus remains on getting the Devils to break through and record that elusive first win.

"It sounds ridiculous but you don't think about, 'If we don’t win, what could happen.' You're so involved in finding a solution and you know you're close, that's where 100 percent of your energy goes," he said.

The game Saturday will be only the second at home this season for New Jersey, which just completed a five-game road trip throughout Canada.
