Philadelphia Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said Friday that defenseman Kimmo Timonen is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Holmgren said he expects Timonen to be back at practice Monday. The Flyers don't play again until Oct. 24, at home against the New York Rangers.

Timonen left the Flyers' 4-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday with 5:56 remaining in the second period.

The 38-year-old defenseman has no points and a minus-2 rating in eight games. He's third on the team with an average of 20:37 of ice time per game.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
