NHL hands St. Louis Blues forward Maxim Lapierre a 5-game ban for boarding

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The National Hockey League handed St. Louis Blues forward Maxim Lapierre a five-game suspension Friday for boarding San Jose Sharks defenceman Dan Boyle.

The incident occurred at 5:22 of the first period on Tuesday night. Lapierre was assessed a major penalty for checking from behind and a game misconduct.

Lapierre served one game of the suspension while awaiting Friday afternoon's in-person hearing.

He will forfeit US$28,205.15 in salary.

Quote of the Day

I would definitely love to play with him. He's a skilled player and over the years he definitely has shown that he can score a lot of goals. I think it would work out well.
