The Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday signed veteran center Jeff Halpern to a one-year, two-way contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

The Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday signed veteran center Jeff Halpern to a one-year, two-way contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

Halpern, 37, had one goal, three points and 10 penalty minutes in 46 games with the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens last season.

In parts of 13 NHL seasons with the Washington Capitals, Dallas Stars, Tampa Bay Lightning, Los Angeles Kings, Canadiens and Rangers, Halpern has played in 907 regular-season games, scoring 147 goals and 361 points among with 617 penalty minutes. He also has seven goals and 14 points in 39 Stanley Cup Playoff games.
