GLENDALE, Ariz. - The Phoenix Coyotes signed forward Jeff Halpern to a one-year contract Saturday. Financial terms of the deal weren't disclosed.
The 37-year-old Halpern had a goal and two assists in 46 games last season for the New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens. In 13 NHL seasons with Washington, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles, Montreal and New York, he has 147 goals and 214 assists in 907 regular-season games.
Obviously he's been my favorite goalie since I grew up. He's kind of close to my hometown so I've been watching him my whole life. It's a pretty special moment for me to score two goals on Lundqvist in such an important game as this.
