WINNIPEG -- Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen left the second period of the game against the Winnipeg Jets on Friday with what team officials termed a lower-body injury.

The Stars do not expect Lehtonen to return against the Jets.

Lehtonen made his second start of the season and stopped all 21 Winnipeg shots he faced before leaving after playing 34:30. Dan Ellis took over in his first appearance this season.

In facing the Jets, Lehtonen played his second game against the organization that selected him second in the 2002 NHL Draft.
