Biron to start for Rangers on Saturday
New York Rangers coach Alain Vigneault announced Friday that backup goaltender Martin Biron would get the start Saturday night in St. Louis against the Blues.

Coming off back-to-back lopsided losses in which his team was outscored 15-2, New York Rangers coach Alain Vigneault announced Friday that backup goaltender Martin Biron would get the start Saturday night in St. Louis against the Blues.

The announcement comes on the heels of two tough losses early in the season: 9-2 in San Jose against the Sharks on Tuesday and 6-0 against the Ducks in Anaheim on Thursday.

Henrik Lundqvist has started every game so far for the Rangers (1-3-0), posting a 4.31 goals-against average and .879 save percentage. Biron's only previous appearance this season was in San Jose on Tuesday, when he came in to relieve Lundqvist after the Rangers' starter allowed four goals on 26 shots. Biron allowed another five Sharks goals on 21 shots in relief.

In six appearances last season with the Rangers, Biron posted a 2-2-1 record with a 2.32 GAA and a .917 save percentage.
