Wild goalie Backstrom leaves game with injury
Minnesota Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom left the game at 11:14 of the first period on Tuesday after the Nashville Predators' Eric Nystrom collided with him in the crease.

NASHVILLE -- Minnesota Wild goalie Niklas Backstrom left the game at 11:14 of the first period on Tuesday after Nashville Predators' forward Eric Nystrom collided with him in the crease.

Nystrom stole the puck high in Nashville's zone and outraced Wild defenseman Keith Ballard, who slashed Nystrom from behind. Nystrom was awarded a penalty shot, but not before colliding in the crease with Backstrom, who appeared to strike his right leg hard against the post during the collision.

Josh Harding entered the game, and Nystrom's wrist shot high to the blocker side on the penalty shot beat him to put Nashville ahead 3-1.

Backstrom had played every minute of the Wild's season to that point. He entered the game 0-0-2, losing once in overtime and once in a shootout, giving up six goals on 48 shots in 130 minutes.
