BRANDON, Man. - Patrik Bartosak stopped 33 shots as the Red Deer Rebels downed the host Brandon Wheat Kings 4-2 on Saturday in Western Hockey League action.
Dominik Volek had a goal and an assist for the Rebels (5-3-0) while Vukie Mpofu, Christian Stockl and Wyatt Johnson scored the others.
John Quenneville and Richard Nejezchleb supplied the offence for the Wheat Kings (4-3-0) as Curtis Honey turned aside 25-of-28 shots in defeat.
Stockl opened the scoring 1:51 into the game to put Red Deer ahead after 20 minutes of play.
Nejezchleb responded 1:35 into the second period, however Mpofu regained the lead for the Rebels 32 seconds later and Johnson made it 3-1 at 4:37.
Quenneville brought the Wheat Kings within a goal, but Volek rounded out the scoring for Red Deer with an empty-net goal in the final minute of the third period.
Red Deer went 0 for 4 on the power play while Brandon scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

CRANBROOK, B.C., — Luke Philp, Jaedon Descheneau and Sam Reinhart each had a goal and an assist as Kootenay beat Calgary.
Jon Martin also scored for the Ice (3-2-1) while Jagger Dirk chipped in with three assists.
Josh Thrower and Jake Virtanen scored for the Hitmen (3-2-0).
Mackenzie Skapski stopped 26 shots for the win as Chris Driedger made 32 saves in defeat.

Thunderbirds 6 Hurricanes 2
LETHBRIDGE, Alta., — Roberts Lipsbergs scored three times and Matthew Barzal had four assists as Seattle beat the Hurricanes.
Alexander Delnov had two goals for the Thunderbirds (5-2-0) and Michal Holub scored the other.
Russell Maxwell and Jaimen Yakubowski replied for Lethbridge (1-4-1).
Justin Myles made 27 saves for the win. Corbin Boes took the loss after giving up three goals on 10 shots. Christopher Tai replaced Boes and made 22 saves in 47 minutes of relief.

MOOSE JAW, Sask., — Zachary Sawchenko stopped 28 shots as the Warriors held on to defeat Vancouver.
Tyler Bell and Sam Fioretti scored for Moose Jaw (4-3-0) in the second period.
Andreas Eder got one back for the Giants (1-5-) in the third.
Payton Lee made 24 saves in defeat.
