NEW YORK -- The National Hockey League has fined Colorado Avalanche coach Patrick Roy $10,000 for his actions at the end of NHL Game No. 6 against the Anaheim Ducks in Denver on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

"Roy's actions at the conclusion of the game were irresponsible," said NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell. "One of the responsibilities of an NHL coach is to help defuse volatile situations on the bench."

The fine money goes to the NHL Foundation.

Quote of the Day

He's only 17 but he can see the ice so well and he moves the puck and goes to the open ice all the time, so I just think he's a player that is ready to play in the NHL. I'm really looking forward to coaching someone like this.
