Nedeljkovic named CHL goaltender of the week
Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers was named the CHL's goaltender of the week.

Alex Nedeljkovic of the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, one of the top prospects for the 2014 NHL Draft, on Wednesday was named Canadian Hockey League's goaltender of the week for the period ending Sept. 29.

Nedeljkovic made 19 saves in a 4-2 win against the Ottawa 67s on Sept. 27. Two nights later, he stopped 42 of 44 shots in regulation and overtime against the Kingston Frontenacs, and then stopped two of three shots in the shootout as the Whalers beat Kingston 3-2. Nedeljkovic was named First Star of the game for his effort.

In four games this season, the 17-year-old is 2-2-0 with a 2.21 goals-against average and .937 save percentage, both of which rank third in the OHL.

Nedeljkovic is one of 11 players, and the only goaltender, to earn an "A" rating in NHL Central Scouting's preliminary players to watch list for the OHL.

Quote of the Day

That's a really tough thing to play through; when you finally are thrown out there, the game is fast, intense, every single play matters, you've got to find a way to play through that and make smart plays. So it's a huge testament to [Vermette] and some other individuals in our locker room that are putting their own ego, their own wants and needs aside, and are ready for those opportunities when they do come.
