Canucks' Kassian suspended five games
Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian has been suspended for remainder of preseason and five regular-season games for high sticking Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner.

NEW YORK -– Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian has been suspended for the team's final three preseason games and for five regular-season games for high-sticking Edmonton Oilers forward Sam Gagner during NHL preseason game No. 50 on Saturday, Sept. 21, in Edmonton, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today.

The incident occurred at 18:33 of the second period. A double-minor penalty for high-sticking was assessed on the play.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Kassian will forfeit $22,500. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
