COLUMBUS, Ohio - Marcus Foligno scored two goals, and the Buffalo Sabres beat a Columbus Blue Jackets split squad 3-1 in a preseason game on Tuesday night.

Mikhail Grigorenko also scored for Buffalo (2-0). Ryan Miller stopped eight of nine shots in just over 30 minutes. Matt Hackett stopped all nine shots he faced.

R.J. Umberger had the lone goal for Columbus (1-1).

Foligno redirected in Tyler Myers' slap shot for his first goal at 19:55 of the opening period. He gave the Sabres a 2-1 lead with 5:09 left in the second after stealing the puck in the Columbus end.

Sergei Bobrovsky played the first two periods for the Blue Jackets and made 13 saves on 15 shots.

Umberger poked in a loose puck near the crease to make it 1-1 at 4:29 of the second.

Grigorenko finished the scoring at 9:23 of the third when he capitalized on a giveaway by Columbus goalie Mike McKenna.

For me, it's a great win for our hockey team and for a lot of people back in Columbus, especially our fans in particular … people who have been devoted to this organization, it's big.
