Blues and defenceman Alex Pietrangelo agree on 7-year contract, ending brief holdout

ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Blues are locking up defenceman Alex Pietrangelo to a seven-year contract.

The 23-year-old led all blue-liners on the team with 24 points (five goals, 19 assists) in 47 games last season.

The six-foot-three, 201-pound native of King City, Ont., has played parts of five NHL seasons with the Blues.

He has 121 points (29-92) and 73 penalty minutes in 224 career regular-season games.

Pietrangelo was originally drafted by the Blues with the fourth overall pick in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Quote of the Day

It's pretty crazy, but believe me when I say we didn't draft these players with the mindset we had to because they had good hockey-playing dads. It just turned out that way. But we're certainly glad they're a part of our organization.
