It appears Daniel Cleary is off the market.
Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reported Monday night that the veteran left wing will sign a three-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers worth an average of $2.75 million per year. The deal is not expected to become official until the end of the month, according to St. James.
Cleary, 34, spent the past eight seasons with the Detroit Red Wings. In 48 games last season, he had nine goals, six assists and 40 penalty minutes. Cleary became an unrestricted free agent on July 5.
In 869 games with Detroit, Phoenix, Edmonton and Chicago, he has 160 goals, 217 assists and 455 penalty minutes.
Cleary, who helped the Red Wings win a Stanley Cup in 2008, was selected by Chicago in the first round (No. 13) of the 1997 NHL Draft.
