Buffalo Sabres forward Mikhail Grigorenko has been ruled ineligible for the 2013 NHL Prospects Tournament in Traverse City, Mich., due to the number of NHL games he played last season.

Grigorenko, the 12th pick of the 2012 NHL Draft, had one goal and four points in 25 games last season before being returned to his junior team, the Quebec Remparts of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

The Sabres are one of eight teams participating in the event, which runs Sept. 5-9. The Sabres are in the Ted Lindsey Division with the Carolina Hurricanes, Columbus Blue Jackets and New York Rangers. The Gordie Howe Division includes Detroit Red Wings, Dallas Stars, Minnesota Wild and St. Louis Blues.

Quote of the Day

I spent a long summer thinking about that playoff series and what could have been. [The Blackhawks] ended up being the Stanley Cup champions, so we know we lost to a very good team. It's tough to know how close we were, and it motivates us for this year.

— Nashville captain Shea Weber in an interview with the Predators website
