Burakovsky, taken with the No. 23 pick in June, had 11 points in 43 games with Malmo in Sweden's second division last season. He also had four goals in five games for Sweden at the 2013 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
The 18-year-old forward will play for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League this season. He also will have a chance to play for Sweden at the 2014 World Junior Championship; he had team-highs of three goals and five points in five games for Sweden at national junior development camp last month in Lake Placid, N.Y.
