Blackhawks agree to deal with Teravainen
The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with forward Teuvo Teravainen, their first-round choice (No. 18) in the 2012 NHL Draft, on a three-year contract.

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms with forward Teuvo Teravainen, their first-round choice (No. 18) in the 2012 NHL Draft, on a three-year contract, the team announced Thursday.

Teravainen, 18, played last season for Jokerit in SM-liiga and had 31 points (13 goals) in 44 regular-season games, and two points (one goal) in six playoff games.

The Helsinki, Finland, native was honored as the league’s Rookie of the Year in 2011-12 after scoring 18 points (11 goals) in 40 regular-season games.

Teravainen (5-foot-11, 169 pounds) was fourth at the 2013 U-20 World Championship with 11 points (five goals) in six games. He had eight points (two goals) with Finland at the 2012 U-18 World Championship.
