The Boston Bruins announced Tuesday they have promoted Keith Gretzky to director of amateur scouting, and hired P.J. Axelsson as a European amateur scout and Keith Sullivan as an amateur scout.

Gretzky, the younger brother of Wayne Gretzky, joined the Bruins in 2011 as an amateur scout based out of Ontario. In his new role, Gretzky will oversee the Bruins' amateur scouting staff and North American and European players eligible for the NHL Draft.

Gretzky was an amateur scout with the Phoenix Coyotes from 2001-05 before being promoted to director of amateur scouting in 2006.

Axelsson joins the Bruins after 11 seasons (1997-2009) as a player. The wing skated in 797 NHL games with Boston, scoring 287 points (103 goals) with 276 penalty minutes. He was selected by the Bruins in the seventh round (No. 177) of the 1995 NHL Draft.

Sullivan joins the Bruins after spending four seasons with the Coyotes (2007-11) and one year with the Winnipeg Jets (2011-12). In 2012-13, Sullivan was general manager of the Muskegon Lumberjacks of the United States Hockey League.
