Forward Colby Armstrong has signed to play next season with Vaxjo of the Swedish league, he said on his Twitter account Saturday.

"Hello Sweden and the people of Vaxjo," Armstrong wrote. "Can't wait to bring family over and jump right in. So exciting."

Armstrong, 30, last season played 37 games for the Montreal Canadiens, with two goals and three assists.

"I grew up like any kid dreaming to play in the NHL; I got to do it, and also [Montreal] was my favorite team growing up, and I got to wear [their logo]," Armstrong wrote.

He was a first-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins (No. 21) in the 2001 NHL Draft. Armstrong had 89 goals, 120 assists and 376 penalty minutes in 476 games with the Penguins, Atlanta Thrashers, Toronto Maple Leafs and Canadiens.

"Honestly gotta say it's been a great ride over here. What a life," he wrote. "Thanks to all the fans in all the cities I've played in here."
