Predators sign F Nick Spaling to 1-year, $1.5 million contract

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Nashville Predators have signed forward Nick Spaling to a one-year, $1.5 million contract.

General manager David Poile announced the deal Thursday.

Spaling, 24, from Drayton, Ontario, tied for fourth with nine goals in 47 games last season. The 58th selection overall in the second round of the 2007 draft, Spaling has played in 226 games with the Predators and has 52 points. Nashville is 20-4-1 when he scores a goal and 34-9-3 when he has a point.

Quote of the Day

He is, in my opinion, one of the best defensemen in the NHL and continuing to grow. I think his game, from an offensive standpoint, he continues to drive our offense... I think there's still tremendous upside for Oliver.
