The Vancouver Canucks have avoided salary arbitration with forward Dale Weise, agreeing to a one-year, $750,000 contract.

The Vancouver Canucks have avoided salary arbitration with forward Dale Weise, agreeing to a one-year, $750,000 contract, according to a report from TSN's Darren Dreger.

Weise, 24, had three goals, six points and 43 penalty minutes in 40 regular-season games for the Canucks during 2012-13. He was scoreless in four Stanley Cup Playoff games.

A fourth-round pick (No. 111) by the New York Rangers in the 2008 NHL Draft, Weise has seven goals, 14 points and 143 penalty minutes in 118 games for the Rangers and Canucks.

Quote of the Day

I have been blessed to play for 16 years in the NHL; it has been an amazing ride. I would like to thank the Tampa Bay Lightning and New York Rangers organizations and owners for providing me the opportunity to play the sport I love for so many years. I could have never played for so long or accomplished all that I have without the unwavering love and support from my wife, Heather, our three sons, Ryan, Lucas, and Mason, and my parents.
