The Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday announced they have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with 23-year-old forward Kyle Beach. Financial details were not released.

Beach had 16 goals, 26 points and 204 penalty minutes in 66 games last season with the Rockford IceHogs, the Blackhawks' American Hockey League affiliate.

The 6-foot-3, 208-pound forward has spent the past three full seasons with Rockford after spending the previous five seasons in the Western Hockey League.

The Blackhawks selected Beach with the 11th pick of the 2008 NHL Draft.

Quote of the Day

The groove of being behind a bench is going to be interesting at first, but thank God we have a few exhibition games to get rid of those cobwebs. Overall the excitement of it all and the freshness and coming back refreshed, all those things are going to be assets. If [the players] come ready to give their best effort in practice and games, good things are going to happen. I'm always looking for results. It's not always on the scoreboard. It's winning and building something.
