Sharks re-sign Pelech to one-year deal
The San Jose Sharks on Wednesday re-signed forward Matt Pelech to a one-year contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

The San Jose Sharks on Wednesday re-signed forward Matt Pelech to a one-year contract. No financial terms were disclosed.

Pelech played two games with San Jose in 2012-13, registering seven penalty minutes. He also played in 58 games with the Worcester Sharks in the American Hockey League, logging seven points (three goals, four assists) and a franchise-record 238 penalty minutes that ranked fifth in the AHL.

The 25 year-old has played in seven career NHL games with the Calgary Flames and San Jose, recording three assists and 16 penalty minutes. In 354 career AHL games, Pelech has 15 goals, 48 points and 1,000 penalty minutes.

The 6-foot-5 Toronto native was Calgary's first-round pick (No. 26) in the 2005 NHL Draft. The Sharks signed him as a free agent in July 2011.
