The Phoenix Coyotes on Tuesday announced they have signed forward Andy Miele to a one-year contract. Terms were not disclosed.

"I'm glad to be back with the Coyotes organization," Miele said. "I will continue to work hard and keep pursuing my dream of becoming an NHL player."

In parts of two NHL seasons, the 5-foot-9, 180-pound player has appeared in eight games with the Coyotes. Last season, he had 19 goals, 53 points and 72 penalty minutes in 70 games with Portland of the American Hockey League. Miele led the Pirates in assists and points, and was third on the team in goals.

"We are pleased to sign Andy to a one-year contract," general manager Don Maloney said. "For the past two seasons, Andy has led the Pirates in scoring and been a very effective player for us. We look forward to him continuing his development this season."

Miele signed with the Coyotes as a free agent on April 2, 2011 after winning the Hobey Baker Award for Miami (Ohio) University.
