Ducks re-sign forward Beleskey to two-year extension
The Anaheim Ducks announced Sunday that they have re-signed forward Matt Beleskey to a two-year contract extension.

The Anaheim Ducks announced Sunday that they have re-signed forward Matt Beleskey to a two-year contract extension. The club did not reveal financial details of the deal, but Helene Elliott of the Los Angeles Times reported that the deal is worth $2.7 million.

A restricted free agent entering this summer, Beleskey led the Ducks with 103 hits in 2012-13 and ranked second on the team with 56 penalty minutes. In 209 career games, he has 26 goals and 56 points.

"I'm really excited," Beleskey told the team's website. "Being back with the Ducks for another two years was exactly what I wanted to do, and I'm just looking forward to being in Anaheim for the next few years. I didn't really want to go anywhere else, and it worked out the best way possible."

Drafted in the fourth round of the 2006 Draft, Beleskey enjoyed a bounce-back season with the Ducks in 2012-13, during which he played on all different lines and in several different situations. In 42 games, Beleskey had eight goals, five assists and a plus-two rating. Those offensive numbers came close to matching his breakout 2009-10 rookie season, when he had 11 goals and 18 points in 60 games. The 2012-13 season also saw Beleskey score the first two power-play goals of his career, a testament to the versatility he offered Anaheim coach Bruce Boudreau.

"Starting from our goalies all the way to our top centerman in Getzy (Ryan Getzlaf), it's a good group of guys who work hard," Beleskey said. "We know what's possible from last season, and that's something we can definitely build on. I'm really looking forward to next season."
