The Vancouver Canucks on Saturday signed unrestricted free-agent center Mike Santorelli. No terms were disclosed.

Santorelli, 27, split the 2012-13 season among the Winnipeg Jets, Florida Panthers, San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League and Tingsryds AIF in Sweden. He had three points (two goals) in 24 games with the Panthers and one assist in 10 games with the Jets after being claimed on waivers in April.

In 208 NHL games with the Nashville Predators, Panthers and Jets, the Vancouver native has 33 goals, 59 points and 50 penalty minutes. He was selected by Nashville in the sixth round (No. 178) in the 2004 NHL Draft.

Quote of the Day

He's, believe it or not, actually one of my favorite guys, and I've ended up trading him twice. I appreciate what he's done. He was one year away from being an unrestricted free agent, and I felt with this opportunity, that it was a chance that we were able to get somebody for him in Nick Bonino and Adam Clendening.
