Sabres sign D Alexander Sulzer to 1-year deal

BUFFALO, N.Y. - The Buffalo Sabres have signed defenceman Alexander Sulzer to a one-year contract.

The 29-year-old German had three goals and one assist in 17 games with Buffalo before suffering a knee injury Feb. 23. He has seven goals and 20 points in 106 career NHL games for Buffalo, Vancouver, Florida and Nashville.

Buffalo acquired the 6-foot-1 Sulzer at the 2012 trade deadline, when they shipped right wing Zack Kassian and defenceman Marc-Andre Gragnani to the Canucks for centre Cody Hodgson and Sulzer.

The Sabres also signed defenceman Drew Bagnall to a two-way contract. He appeared in two games for Minnesota during the 2010-11 season.

Quote of the Day

It's very special, obviously; there is draft day and then there's the day that you sign your first deal. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and I'm very honored to be able to do that."
