Rangers sign Moore, Pouliot to one-year deals
The New York Rangers signed forward Dominic Moore to a one-year contract, the team announced.

The New York Rangers on Friday signed forward Dominic Moore to a one-year contract. Terms of the deal were not released, but the New York Post reported the value of the contract at $1 million.

Moore, 32, sat out the 2012-13 season to care for his wife, who had been diagnosed with a rare form of liver cancer in the spring of 2012. She died Jan. 7.

He split 2011-12 with the Tampa Bay Lightning and San Jose Sharks, totaling four goals and 25 points in 79 games.

Chosen by the Rangers in the third round (No. 95) of the 2000 NHL Draft, Moore has played 530 games with nine teams, but the Rangers will be the first team he's played with for a second time. In addition to New York, he's played with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Minnesota Wild, Toronto Maple Leafs, Buffalo Sabres, Florida Panthers, Montreal Canadiens, Lightning and Sharks.

In eight seasons, Moore has 67 goals and 118 assists, and 16 points in 44 Stanley Cup Playoff games.

The Rangers also signed defenseman Aaron Johnson. Terms of the deal were not released, but the New York Post reported the contract as a one-year, $600,000 deal.

Johnson, 30, split the 2012-13 season between the Boston Bruins and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Providence Bruins. He had 10 penalty minutes and eight shots on goal in 10 NHL games, and one assist in two AHL games.

A 2001 third-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets, Johnson has 62 points in 291 NHL games with the Blue Jackets, New York Islanders, Chicago Blackhawks, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Bruins.

Later Friday, the Rangers signed forward Benoit Pouliot. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but multiple media outlets reported Pouliot received a one-year contract worth $1.3 million.

Pouliot, 26, appeared in 34 games for the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2012-13. He had eight goals, 12 assists and 15 penalty minutes. He also led the Lightning with a plus-8 rating.
