Columbus Blue Jackets sign forward Blake Comeau to 1-year extension after short stint in 2013

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed forward Blake Comeau to a one-year contract extension through next season.

The 27-year-old Comeau was acquired on April 3 from Calgary for a fifth-round pick in Sunday's draft. He totalled six goals and six assists in 42 games during the season, including two goals and three assists and a plus-5 rating in nine games with the Blue Jackets.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound forward has 67 goals and 81 assists in 361 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets, Flames and New York Islanders. He set career highs for goals (24), assists (22) and points (46) in 77 games with the Islanders in 2010-11.

A native of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan, Comeau was New York's second pick, 47th overall, in the 2004 draft.

Quote of the Day

I got a chance to play a thousand games and that's pretty special to me. To get a thousand [points], it's a great accomplishment. I'm not going to hide my feelings, I'm proud of that. To do it on a win, do it on a goal, I think it makes it special.
