Canadiens sign forward Michael Blunden to one-year contract extension

MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens have signed right-wing Michael Blunden to a one-year contract extension.

Blunden played five regular-season games with the Canadiens in 2013-13. He was held scoreless and picked up four penalty minutes. He also appeared in one playoff game for Montreal.

He had 10 goals, 12 assists and 76 penalty minutes in 54 games with Hamilton of the American Hockey League last season.

The six-foot-three, 209-pound Toronto native has appeared in 95 career NHL games with Chicago, Columbus and Montreal, scoring four goals, adding four assists and picking up 100 penalty minutes.

Quote of the Day

[He's] real confident with the puck now, getting it off his stick quick and no second-guessing. We need that. He's such a good guy in the room. He works so hard. That's the big thing. For not a big man, he just fights for every puck and when he scores, the guys appreciate that even more.
